BASICS ABOUT THE JOB:

Job duties include but are not limited to:

- Assisting staff in interfacing with clients
- Working with partners to distribute creative materials
- Use market research to target campaigns
- Conduct/manage community event outreach
- Develop strategic partnerships to push issues forward
- Conduct presentations to target audiences
- Assist in executing social media


QUALIFICATIONS:

This is an inexact science, but we are looking for folks that have skills that can contribute to effective marketing/communications on social issues.  The candidate should have an interest in the communications/marketing field and a track record of getting results.

Changing the world is hard and we are looking for folks willing to work hard to help create that change. An SGA'er would embody the following:

DUTIES

Intern/Outreach Specialist:

The position is an hourly as needed position. The work is real (not fluff/get coffee type of work). With that said, folks can work remote from time to time and the hours are flexible (we realize school comes first).

  • Assist in implementing social media campaigns
  • Help write press releases, newsletter articles and online content
  • Conduct market research
  • Conduct/manage community event outreach
  • Develop strategic partnerships to push issues forward 
  • Help prepare presentations to target audiences
  • Assist development of creative materials

SGA: THE GOOD AND BAD

The thing that people like best about us is that we are flexible and nimble. We take on causes for the public good and we are nice, helpful people. The downside of this is there is not a lot of structure. Everyone is busy and on tight schedules so there is not a lot of hand holding. If you are not self motived to figure things out - DON'T APPLY. 

Most of our clients are government agencies, which is great because they are looking after the public good, however this also means a lot of buy in is needed, consensus needs to be built and committees need to be educated (who are often non-communications people). So you must have an ability to listen, be patient, be persuasive and be gently but absolutely persistent. If you get frustrated easily - DON'T APPLY.
